1. Overview & Core Philosophy

MSBTE Study Hub is built as an offline-first educational reference and study companion for polytechnic diploma engineering students preparing for MSBTE (Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education) K-Scheme and I-Scheme examinations. We do not require account registration, phone numbers, or passwords to access study notes, formulas, question banks, or previous year papers.

2. Information We Collect and Process

We believe in minimal data collection. The data processed includes:

• Local Academic Preferences: The student's selected branch (e.g. Computer Engineering, Mechanical, Civil), semester (Sem 1 to Sem 6), and subject filters. This information is stored locally on your device using standard Android shared preferences to present the relevant syllabus and questions upon launch. It is never uploaded to any central user tracking database.
• Anonymous Diagnostic & Performance Metrics: Standard non-personally identifiable diagnostic parameters (such as device manufacturer, Android OS version, app version, screen resolution, and crash logs) to diagnose software bugs, optimize KaTeX formula rendering, and ensure seamless performance across devices.
• Speech-to-Text Input (Voice Search): The app offers an optional voice search feature allowing students to speak engineering topics or question numbers. Voice data is processed transiently by the device's native SpeechRecognizer or speech-to-text service solely to transcribe the query into search keywords. We do not record, store, collect, or transmit your voice audio recordings to any server.

3. Device Permissions and Why We Need Them

The application requests only necessary permissions strictly aligned with its educational functionality:

• android.permission.INTERNET: Required to fetch syllabus updates, download official MSBTE model answer PDFs, check for fresh question bank additions from our secure content server (rujulatechnologies.in), and load educational ads.
• android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows the app to detect whether an active Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection is available so it can smoothly switch between offline cached notes and live content fetching.
• android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO: Used strictly and solely when the student taps the optional microphone button in the doubt search bar to perform speech-to-text conversion. The audio is converted to text locally and discarded immediately.

4. Third-Party Service Providers & SDKs

To support high-quality educational content and server operations, MSBTE Study Hub incorporates trusted industry-standard SDKs:

• Google Play Services & Google Play Core: For seamless in-app updates and standard Android runtime libraries.
• Google AdMob: To serve non-intrusive advertisements that help fund server bandwidth and question paper digitization. Google AdMob may process non-sensitive device advertising identifiers (Google Advertising ID) in accordance with Google's Privacy & Terms. Students may reset or opt out of personalized ads via device Settings > Google > Ads.
• Google Gemini / AI API: Optional AI-assisted conceptual doubt solver. Only the explicit academic question text submitted by the student is forwarded to the AI endpoint to generate step-by-step educational explanations. No personal profile data is attached.

5. Zero Selling or Commercial Sharing of Student Data

We never sell, rent, monetize, or disclose your personal data to data brokers, third-party marketers, or commercial advertisers. All academic preferences remain strictly on the student's personal handset.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Because MSBTE Study Hub operates on an offline-first architecture without user accounts, all stored preferences, bookmarks, and cached question papers reside directly in your handset's local storage. You can instantly delete all cached data and preferences at any time by navigating to your device's Settings > Apps > MSBTE Study Hub > Storage > Clear Data / Clear Cache, or by uninstalling the application.

7. Children & Student Privacy (COPPA & Family Policy Compliance)

MSBTE Study Hub provides technical curriculum content designed for post-secondary polytechnic diploma engineering students (typically ages 15 to 22+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe any child data has been inadvertently collected, please notify us and we will promptly eliminate it.

8. Security Safeguards

All network communications between MSBTE Study Hub and our cloud infrastructure utilize encrypted HTTPS (TLS 1.2/1.3) protocols to safeguard data in transit against interception or tampering.
